MASKNE it’s a real thing!

If you are wearing a face mask daily you may have noticed your
skin has broken out or become irritated.
We chatted to Naomi Holden our 2IC Registered Nurse at Medical on Miami. Naomi is a vital part of our nursing team and we are proud to have her!
Naomi explained to us that and one of the results of wearing PPE Facemasks all day is the unfortunate side-effect of Maskne (pimples or acne resulting from wearing a mask).
A few of our crew have had great results from using 2 products which are available via prescription only from your GP namely ReTrieve and Epiduo.
- ReTrieve Cream 0.05% is a topical medication used to treat mild to moderate acne vulgaris, to prevent the formation and spread of pimples. One of the other great benefits is it also works for aging or damaged skin where age spots and fine wrinkles are replaced by new skin cells giving the effect of lightening and smoothing the skin. (approx. $62)
- Epiduo® Forte (adapalene and benzoyl peroxide) Gel, 0.3%/2.5% is a once-daily prescription medication for topical treatment of acne. With two powerful ingredients, Epiduo Forte Gel treats tough acne, reduces inflammatory bumps and blemishes, and reduces the risk of acne scars. (approx. $40)
So, if you are looking for a solution to acne or pimples from wearing a mask, these could be fantastic options for you or a loved one!
Depending on the relationship with your regular GP, you may be suitable for an ONLINE appointment with us via TELEHEALTH if you are unable to get into our centres or would prefer to do so from home.
Nurse Naomi reminds us that one of the best ways we can protect ourselves from the spread of viruses is to WASH YOUR HANDS & DON’T TOUCH YOUR FACE. Once you become aware of how often you touch you face, you will hopefully stop!
PLEASE NOTE: These medicines are only available with a doctor’s prescription. And you should always ask your GP if this would be suitable and safe for you.
