Osteopathy

Osteopathy – what is it?

With the exciting arrival of our new Osteopath – Aaron Segal we thought we’d give you a chance to get to know him and Osteopathy better!

Osteo… that’s bones, right? You’re not wrong! Osteopathy derives from the Greek word osteon meaning bones, however, osteopathy is so much more than that! Osteopaths look at pain relief somewhere in the body by looking at it as a whole – it’s about focusing on how the bones, joints, muscles, nerves, and organs all work together, and getting to the cause of your symptoms rather than just treatment.

It’s a holistic, hands-on manual therapy that is gentle and safe. Babies, the elderly, and those more sensitive can benefit from osteopathy. It’s non-invasive and gentle without inducing additional discomfort. There is a wide range of techniques that can be adapted for individual needs, including those of pregnant people, toddlers, and people in so much pain they may only be able to sit or lay a certain way.

Osteopathy is a complementary therapy, meaning it can be used alongside conventional treatment to improve health in a multidisciplinary setting – so it would make perfect sense to have Aaron join us here at Medical on Miami!

We LOVE and are so proud of our team and want to highlight their stories, to not only help you get to know them a little bit better but also hopefully inspire others to think of a career in Healthcare!
