What is that? A freckle? A mole? A skin cancer? A mozzie bite?
People of every race, colour and creed are susceptible to skin cancers and abnormalities. It’s really difficult – and not wise – to try and diagnose yourself. If you’re worried about having to disrobe, it’s very professional, private, discreet and everybody is pretty similar!
Skin cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal skin cells. It occurs with DNA damage to skin cells (most often caused by ultraviolet radiation from sunshine or tanning beds) are triggered and form mutations, or genetic defects, that lead the skin cells to multiply rapidly and form malignant tumors.
At Medical on Miami we have Doctors who can check for you, give you a professional opinion and diagnosis. There are recommendations for the frequency of skin checks, but your doctor will be able to tell you how often they’ll need to see you after your visit.
